The Horses Too! Western Pennsylvania Photographer

When Lindsay contacted me to take family photos as a Father's Day gift for her dad I had no idea what I was getting myself into.  I've photographed families before, and I've photographed horses before, but I hadn't photographed the two together before!  These two beautiful horses had no interest in being in the center of a fun family photograph so we improvised.  I photographed the family and then the horses.  In the end it all worked out. I made an adorable mini album for her dad that included pictures of the whole family horses included!

I love photographing twins!  Have I told you I'm a twin?  Twins intrigue me. I always ask them the same question "Is one of your more dominant than the other?"  I guess because I was the more dominant one I alwas wonder if it's normal for twins to have those differences in their personalities!

Aren't they the cutest family? I had so much fun that I didn't even mind the big pile of horse poo I stepped in on my way out!  (My shoe minded a little.)

Studio Lighting My Way

When I started the business side of photography my focus was on natural light photography and weddings.  Recently I've become more interested in studio lighting.  This new found desire is most likely a result of the cold winter months and not wanting to freeze my buns off in out door sessions with a foot of snow.  I also want the flexibility of using studio lighting when natural light may not be available.  As I've mentioned before, I'm a big fan of Zack Arias and his OneLight DVD.  His video inspired me to learn more about minimalist  lighting techniques.  I wanted to work with the gear I had available to me and since most of my lighting experience related to weddings, I had a couple of flashes, two light stands, and a flash trigger.  I dug out the umbrellas which were packaged with the light stands when I bought them and started playing around.  I think I've finally got a good grasp on what I'm doing.  Of course I still have more to learn. I hope I never come to a point where I don't feel that way.
So, here it is;  A SOOC (straight out of camera)  image and the set-up I used to take it.

Chloe : Newborn Session Western PA Photographer

I met Chloe's mom though a lifelong friend.  When she contacted me to do her maternity session I was so excited!  You may remember it Cara's Maternity Session.  Obviously I was super excited to photograph little Chloe when she was born!  Even more exciting was that mama had bought an adorable tutu and this ADORABLE HAT from my favorite vendor Cotton Blossoms! The results were nothing short of complete cuteness!
